Best Paper Award for VSL
VSL colleague Adriaan van der Veen received on 20 April 2016 in Sèvres, France, the CITAC Best Paper Award 2015 for the paper “Validation of ISO 6974 for the measurement of the composition of hydrogen-enriched natural gas”, co-authored by Paul Ziel and Jianrong Li.

Increasing the competitive advantage of EU power industry via accurate calibration of power transformer losses

In the competitive market of power transformers for electricity grids, low losses are a key quality and a crucial competitive distinction between power transformer manufacturers. VSL's recent development allows manufacturers to measure and validate these losses with an independently verified test setup.

Positive results ammonia measurements

‘MetNH3’ is an EMRP-project aimed at improving the metrological traceability of ammonia measurements in air. To achieve this, all steps of the measurement chain have to be improved: from the level of primary reference gas mixtures up to the analysis at field level. Because ammonia affects the nitrogen cycle in the atmosphere, analyses for the presence of ammonia are very important. The concentrations measured often vary greatly. The values in the vicinity of an agricultural facility, for example a chicken battery cage, are considerably higher than in a nature landscape.
